Tips for Swimming Success
Lane Etiquette
Masters swimming can be great fun and exercise, and here are some tips to help make the most of this wonderful experience:
- Swim in a lane where you can make the intervals
- Do the prescribed set, unless you warn others
- Keep paddle-wearing to a minimum on non-pull sets
- Arrive early for morning workout to help set-up the pool
- Help pull lane lines and/or covers after workout when necessary
- Put away your kickboard, pull buoy, or any other gear you may have used
- Be conscious of those swimming in front of and/or behind you
- If you would like to alter the set, get consensus from your lane mates
- Circle swim when there are 2 or more swimmers per lane
- If you are leading a set, make sure your lane mates are aware of when you intend to leave
- Leave at least 5 seconds apart
- When you finish, move to the side to allow swimmers behind you to reach the wall
